RESTORATION OF PUBLIC SPACES IN VILLAGES IN THE ÚŠTĚCKO REGION Study 2019 Project 2020 Úštěcko J. Vlček, J. Kusbachová in cooperation with the landscape studio Symbio studio - M. Gelová, S. Chlebovská The project and discussion with local residents is the first step in the restoration of public spaces in the villages of Úštěcko. We carried out a field survey of the villages and analysed the available documents, including historical ones. The purpose of the project was to map the needs of the villages from the point of view of the local inhabitants as well as from the independent point of view of the project authors. In Dubičná we addressed the problem of poor access to drinking water wells and the local pond. In the villages of Konojedy, Rochov, Starý Týn and Vědlice we proposed modifications or creation of new playgrounds. For the villages of Lhota, Ličenice, Lukov and Ostré we have prepared studies for revitalisation or creation of public seating. For Tetčiněves, we proposed to make the local Úštěcké brook accessible with a view of the historical bridge with the possibility of creating a resting place with access to the brook and a view of the historical stone bridge. The individual interventions will be gradually implemented from 2021 onwards from the LAG subsidies. Vlček, The brief for the complete reconstruction of a prefabricated apartment was to create a living space for a family of four. Originally, the apartment had only 2 bedrooms and a large number of poorly used spaces. The layout is newly structured with atypical furniture to make the space as efficient as possible and at the same time look generous. In addition, the apartment had to accommodate a piano, a large bookcase, a work area with a computer and plenty of storage cabinets. The furniture is completely custom-made and unified by the white colour, which visually increases the space. The flooring throughout the apartment is designed in natural marmoleum. The parents' sleeping area can be separated by three sliding panels. Although the children's rooms are minimal, the arrangement of the furniture has left plenty of space for play, clothes storage and desks. Půdorys návrh Půdorys původní stav

Lejdar, J. Vlček, M. Kłos, E. Svobodová Photography: Michaela Klementová In the family villa from the 1970s, thanks to a complete reconstruction, not only 4 residential units were created, but also an office and warehouse space for the company headquarters. These are located on the ground floor and in the basement. The original birch-coloured facade was replaced with a light grey one, the entrance to the house, the parking area and the area in front of the house were modified. In particular, we changed the levels in the entrance area of the house and removed an unnecessary chamber. The entrance hall is now more spacious and serves its function better. The staircase has also been fully renovated with new panelling and handrails. The villa offers 4 apartment units with a layout of 2 + kk for rent. Two of the apartments have balconies overlooking the garden and one is designed as a duplex. For the interior design we took inspiration from the 70s and used playful tiles and colourful wallpapers. Each apartment has a different colour scheme; one is red, one is turquoise, and the others are in petrol and blue. From the beginning, the investor had the intention to rent the apartments as partially furnished, so we designed only built-in furniture - kitchens, wardrobes and furniture in the hallways.

Jan Gabriel, Ing. arch. Eva Svobodová Photo: Filip Šlapal Slightly sloping land is located in the direct vicinity of the Lipno reservoir. The location of the building on the plot is chosen so that the main living area offers a view of the water surface. The mass of the house refers to the typology of the original Sumava cottages. The black facade made of burnt larch contrasts with the light interior made entirely of spruce biodesk. The timber-framed building is based on a stone platform that flanks the building on three sides and creates a covered and uncovered terrace. The layout of the ground floor of the building is designed as an open airy space connected to the exterior, which is elevated in its main part up to the ridge of the roof. The attic contains two bedrooms and a gallery. Movable sliding wooden shutters are designed on the ground floor for a sense of security and privacy. The nature garden is dominated by a mature swamp oak. Important elements : 1 Respect for the working-class context The project is based on the character of the original workers' colony - it preserves the street line, typical height and proportions of the house. The morphology and material concept of the front facade honors the historical context and local identity. 2 New courtyard shield The gable facade facing the courtyard now opens up significantly through large windows, connecting the main living room and terrace with the courtyard and garden. The living space thus expands beyond the boundaries of the original floor plan. 3 Opening barns towards the garden The original barns remain in their rough form, but they are now opened up to the garden. This creates a visual and functional connection between the individual parts of the property and at the same time new possibilities for use - for example, for seating, a summer kitchen or smaller social events. 4 Use of birch plywood in the interior The interior furniture was designed from birch plywood, which gives the space a clean, contemporary expression. The material's lightness and subtle pattern support the overall sobriety and visual coherence of the design.

Pavel Lejdar, Ing. arch. Jan Gabriel, Ing. arch. Eva Svobodová, Ing. arch. Jana Kusbachová We designed a modular hotel village on the shore of the Mediterranean Sea for a foreign investor. Thirty container units are located directly on the beach, in a non-developable zone, and house the hotel reception, beach bar and 36 apartment rooms. The project is designed for a domestic clientele in order to experience the place, an important aspect is the placement of the modules to maintain privacy and preserve the sea view. The interiors of the hotel have a clean Mediterranean look and are equipped with products from Czech designers. In the design we used elements of passive cooling and shading.
